You think your art sucks?

I recall being in a position similar to many aspiring artists, where I was struggling with aspects such as perspective, shadows, lighting, and other skills required to create visually appealing artwork. It can be disheartening to spend time creating a piece of art, only to step back and realize that it falls short of your expectations. This feeling can be attributed to the 'gap' that we experience when learning a new skill.
The 'gap' refers to the time when our skills have not yet caught up to our taste. When we learn a new skill, we get exposed to a plethora of excellent work, which enables us to develop our taste in that field. However, our taste often advances at a faster pace than our skills do, resulting in frustration when we struggle to produce artwork that meets our expectations.
To anyone who feels as though they are not skilled at art, I encourage you to stop thinking that way. Rather than comparing yourself to experts in the field, focus on comparing yourself to who you were yesterday. Keep working at your craft, and remember that every piece of art is unique and has its own merits. The journey to developing your artistic abilities may be difficult at times, but the end result is worth the effort.
